Between 2011 and 2021, the population of the United Kingdom grew 5.9%. We understand that many people may feel overcrowded, and it is our belief that this is due to poor land use and housing policy. In that vain, we began a project to develop a type of micro-apartment, where every inch of space is utilised effectively.

There is a risk, when designed poorly and constructed cheaply, that homes can feel cramped. However, when developed with the understanding of space and light, as well as the consumers' needs, micro-apartments can foster a new form of home. Cost effective to build, affordable to live in. Our current designs are approximately 33.5 sq m*, which is considerably smaller than the estimated average size of a U.K. one bedroom home at 46 sq m.

Our vision is simple. We are not building blocks of flats, we are attempting to foster a new culture. Instead of feeling small and cramped, our micro-apartments feel comfortable and snug. It creates a safe and warm home, where you can close the door and relax. They will have solar panels covering part of the roof, using renewable energy sources to power the homes. On the other side of the roof will sit a moss garden. We chose moss for its amazing abilities to generate oxygen, which should help combat our carbon footprint. However, we also believe that having an outdoor area for residents is good for their mental health. Which feeds into fostering a new culture. Affordable, safe homes. A clean and healthy environment. Shared gardens, with the intention of creating social gatherings.

As we progress into our current phase, we are determining the right locations for our micro-apartments. Our aim is to have them covering the entirety of the UK, but for now we are looking into developing in London, Brighton and Bath.
